Skip to contentMagdalena Kozieł-Nowak lives and works in the town of Jawor, located on the edge of the Land of Extinct Volcanoes in Poland. She is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. An illustrator and book designer, she also creates satirical drawings. Since 2007, she has collaborated with numerous publishing houses, including Nasza Księgarnia, Literatura, HarperKids, Dwukropek, Agora, and Bajka, illustrating dozens of books—some of which have been published internationally.
She has presented her work in both solo and group exhibitions. Passionate about connecting with her audience, she often conducts workshops for children.
2014 – Ksenia. The Girl Who Swallowed Letters and Had Only One Head, written by Marta Talacha and illustrated by Kozieł-Nowak, was a finalist in the first edition of the international children’s book illustration competition JASNOWIDZE.
2015 – Received a Special Award at the 17th Open International Competition for Satirical Drawing DEBIUT in Zielona Góra.
2017 – Her illustrated edition of The Children of Noisy Village by Astrid Lindgren (Nasza Księgarnia) was nominated by the Polish Book Publishers Association for the title of Most Beautiful Book of the Year 2016.
2023 – Her illustrated edition of 101 Dalmatians by Dodie Smith (Nasza Księgarnia) was included in the 2022 Treasures List of the Museum of Children’s Books.
2024 – Received a Distinction at the 1st Festival of Illustration and Drawing, organized by the GPS Pro Art Foundation, for her illustrations in The Haliks Ride Through the Americas by Mirosław Wlekły (Agora for Children).
2024 – Awarded a Graphic Distinction in the Polish IBBY Book of the Year 2024 competition for her illustrations in Julian Tuwim for Children (Nasza Księgarnia).
