Hanna Krajnik

Bio

Born in 1927 and passed away in 2017, she was an illustrator and a representative of the Polish School of Illustration. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, she completed her studies in 1955. From 1968 to 1977, she served as the art director of the children’s magazine Świerszczyk, where she published many of her works.

She illustrated dozens of children’s books, including:

  • H. Bechlerowa, O kotku, który szukał czarnego mleka (The Kitten Who Searched for Black Milk, 1959)

  • J.E. Kucharski, Wawa i jej pan (Wawa and Her Master, 1960)

  • D. Gellnerowa, Polecimy w świat (We’ll Fly into the World, 1967)

  • W. Grodzieńska, Świerszczowa muzyka (The Cricket’s Music, 1970)

  • A. Świrszczyńska, Kołysanka dla Marka (Lullaby for Marek, 1970)

  • M. Jaworczakowa, Majka z Siwego Brzegu (Majka from the Grey Shore, 1973)

  • H. Łochocka, Dziewczynka z tęczy (The Girl from the Rainbow, 1978)

Her Piotruś (Old Maid-style) playing cards titled We Make Toys were first published in 1970.
